Our professional and friendly instructors will set up a safe archery range at a suitable outdoor or indoor location following Archery GB rules to ensure the safety of you and the public. Our team will introduce you to the archery equipment, ensuring you are matched with the correct size bow and arrows and show you how to use them correctly. Our team will demonstrate the correct stance and shooting technique, and how to collect and pick up the arrows.

Following the demonstration, it's now your turn! Our expert instructors will talk you through the process for your first few arrows offering guidance to help you hit the target. Throughout your archery session the aim is to get you shooting as much as possible within the boundaries of safety; our instructors will continually offer guidance to develop your skills and help you work towards hitting that centre gold!

There are several varieties of archery that we can offer sessions in;

  • Balloons - We'll attach balloons to the targets and you'll try to burst them by hitting them with your arrows.
  • Score Competition - Participants take it in turns to shoot in rounds and we record the points scored to see who comes out top.
  • Colours - Each participant or team must shoot white, black, blue, red and yellow in order; the first participant or team to shoot all the colours in order wins.
  • Connect 3 - Take it in turns with a partner to try and get 3 arrows in a run, sometimes tactics are better than skill.

There are a number of different styles of archery, but the most popular and Olympic archery discipline is target archery. CGO offer target archery sessions where archers shoot their arrows at targets set at a distance on a flat indoor or outdoor surface. Archery targets for this discipline have five coloured rings - from the outside to the middle they are: white, black, blue, red and yellow.
