Applying for a Masters' degree: everything you need to know

Applying for a postgraduate course online is easy - simply click the "Apply now" button on the top of the course page you'd like to apply for.

How to apply Discover postgraduate study

Can't apply online?

If you're unable to apply online, you can contact our Student Admissions team. They'll be able to give you a printed application form and can answer any questions you may have about postgraduate study.

Entry requirements

This varies from course to course. You'll find your course's specific entry requirements in the online prospectus.

You'll need the following information ready before starting your application:

  • Degree certificate and academic transcripts
  • Evidence of English language proficiency
  • A reference to support your application, either academic or professional, a template can be accessed via the link below

Deadlines

Most courses don't have fixed application deadlines. But, our courses are popular - they can fill up quickly. It's best to apply as early as possible.

Check the course details to see when it starts - most of our postgraduate courses have multiple start dates in September, January, April or May.

After you apply

We'll send you an email to confirm that we've received your application. This email will also contain your unique reference number.

We'll process your application as quickly as possible:

  • You should expect a decision within six weeks
  • If your course has a specific closing date, we'll normally wait until this date has passed
  • In some cases, we may request more information, or invite you to an interview

Types of offer you could receive

Unconditional offer

This means you definitely have a place on your chosen course. If you wish to accept our offer you will need to accept this through your Apply Online account.

Conditional offer

If you have not met all of the entry requirements yet (you might be waiting to take exams or receive results) we may make you a conditional offer. This offer means we are happy to have you on the course, as long as you achieve the appropriate qualifications.

Online Welcome Service

Our welcome service will give you all the information you need prior to starting your course. We'll invite you to set up an account on this system when you have accepted your place with us.
