Dr Soran AminiAghdam

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Soran is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Sport Biomechanics. The primary aim of his role within the Centre for Human Performance is to design, coordinate and conduct biomechanics support services to amateur and elite athletes as well as research projects.

Soran completed his PhD research at Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Germany (2018) titled Adjustment of posture as a measure to accommodate uneven ground supervised by Prof Dr Reinhard Blickhan. Following his PhD, he conducted postdoctoral research within a project titled Intelligent walking of humans and robots at Bayreuth Medical Center in Bavaria, Germany. Afterwards, he undertook the second postdoctoral position at London South Bank University to work on a clinical research-led project.

Prior to joining Leeds Beckett University, Soran was working in industry as a Human Movement Analytics and Technologist. In the current post, he is supporting the delivery of projects with existing partners, as well as developing new opportunities, primarily focussed on return-to-play assessments and services relating to golf and gait analysis.

Research Interests

Soran's primary research interest is centred around the control of gait and posture as two main motor functions of human locomotor system.
He is also interested in developing and validating biomechanics-driven strategies for injury prevention, treatment and rehabilitation.
