Alumni join forces in new business
Volume Film is a film company set up by Joel Earnshaw, BA (Hons) Media Communications Cultures, and Jordan Hunt-Brown, BA (Hons) Filmmaking, who met during their time studying at Leeds Beckett.
The idea for the business came out of one of Jordan’s filmmaking modules. After deciding that he wanted to make his assignment a reality, Jordan reached out to friends he knew might be interested in starting a film company.
He said: “In my third year the idea really started to take shape. I knew what I wanted to do, so me and Joel came together to combine our different talents and be successful.
“We put our heads together and soon realised that Joel was happy to use his experience and be the client facing business side, and I would be the creative filmmaker, utilising both of our skills to create Volume Film.”
Volume Film recently returned to the university to pass on their experience to first year students. The pair tasked students to come up with a promotional video idea for a local business. The winning team joined Joel and Jordan on the promotional shoot for the chosen business, Dry Dock.
Daniel Kilvington, course director for BA (Hons) Media Communications Cultures said: “Joel and Jordan are amazing role models for our students.
“It’s great to see two recent graduates following their dreams, working so incredibly hard, and applying their degree skills and knowledge in the sector. They’re providing real life media opportunities for our undergraduates, and we couldn’t be more proud of them.”
