Leeds Professor is keynote speaker at FIFA Conference in Switzerland
The conference, which is looking at equality and inclusion in sports, takes place next month. Professor Hylton, Head of the Research Centre for Diversity, Equality and Inclusion at Leeds Beckett, will be joining a distinguished panel to discuss ‘Restoring humanity: integration through sports’.
During the session, academics and practitioners will provide expert analyses and discuss models for achieving equality and inclusion in and through sports. Experts in the field will discuss how positive social change can be achieved through sport and football.
Professor Hylton said: “In today’s globalised world, in which more people than ever are on the move, I will join other panellists to explore the significant role that sports play and their great potential as a tool for inclusion, empowerment and justice.”
Professor Hylton will be joined by the FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Head of Security and Minister Sports for the Canton of Zurich, the Director of the International Department at the Real Madrid Foundation and the President and co-founder of the Homeless World Cup.
Other participants of the conference include members of FIFA, international administrators, professional footballers and coaches.
Kevin Hylton is Professor of Equality and Diversity in Sport, Leisure and Education at Leeds Beckett University.
His latest book Contesting 'Race' and Sport: Shaming the Colour Line will be available from March.
