1. Reduce your takeaway cup use

The thin plastic lining that makes your single use cup leakproof and keeps the coffee goodness inside also makes the cup difficult to recycle.

We work closely with our waste management partners, Forge Recycling, to make sure we’re doing all we can to be sustainable. If you need to use a single use cup look out for our designated cup recycling bins in our outlets and around campus.

Just outside R.B. Espresso in the Rose Bowl you’ll also find a Revending machine – pop your cup in and you’ll get a voucher for money off your next drink!

2. Keep the drinks flowing

You kick start your day with a drink on your commute and then a few hours later you’re ready for your next… but your cup’s looking a little grim from that commuter coffee.

No judgement here – just hand us your cup over and we’ll give it quick rinse out before refuelling you for the day ahead. And hey, if you need another one later just pop back, we know the importance of a good brew or strong coffee.

3. Grab a discount

Did you say you have a reusable cup? We love to see it. In fact, we love it so much we’ll give you 20p off your drink as a thank you.

If you don’t have one yet pick up a fantastic KeepCup - they’re lightweight, barista standard and modular designed, so if a part reaches the end of its life (or an accident happens) you can just replace the part - not the full product. You can get them at any of our outlets for just £6.50 and your first drink is on us.

4. Keep it warmer (or cooler!) for longer

A paper cup can’t offer the same level of insulation as a reusable cups, which are specially designed to keep your drink at the temperature it’s meant to be for longer.

So, whether it’s keeping your cappuccino toasty in winter or iced latte frosty in summer, your drink will stay just the way you ordered it! And yes, your 20p off also applies to any smoothies or iced drinks you fill up your cup with.

5. Save on resources

Each time a single use cup is used timber, plastic and energy are expended in its production – which seems an awful lot for something which will only be in our lives for 30 minutes (unless it’s a Tiki hot chocolate, then 5 minutes is probably more accurate).

Most reusable cups have a life span of 3-5 years. If you’re “a cup a day” kind of person, which we are, you could potentially save 22kg of timber, 4kg of plastic and 1,180mj of energy being used to process all those single cups. Check out KeepCup’s impact calculator to find out how much you could save if you switched today.
