Societies

Leeds Beckett Students’ Union (LBSU) provides so many opportunities for socialising and meeting liked-minded people! Joining a society is a great way to find a group of friends with similar interest. At Leeds Beckett Students’ Union, they have a huge range of student groups that you can now join. Societies are student-led groups based around shared hobbies where you can meet others who enjoy the same things you do. Or if you can’t find the one you want, why not start your own?!

Student communities

We know how important it is to feel supported by your community. In Leeds Beckett Students’ Union student communities, students can meet and shape their experience at Leeds Beckett. They have communities for international students, student parents & carers, LGBT+ students, postgraduate researchers, women, disabled students and global majority students!

Volunteering

Another great way to meet people outside of your course is to volunteer! LBSU work with various local and national charities who can offer you a diverse range of volunteering opportunities both in person and online. You could also join one of their student-led projects where you can learn more about growing your own food, improve your cooking skills or meet new people to grow your network.

The Hive

Your Students’ Union also provide you with a socialising space on both campuses called The Hive. If you’re looking to grab a tasty bite to eat on campus, studying between lectures or get a drink with friends, The Hive is the place to go. They have veggie, vegan, halal & gluten-free options available, and even serve Starbucks! If you’re a music fan, you’re in luck, you’ll find a gig venue attached to The Hive.
