leeds: a student city

something for every student

From historical landmarks and cultural hotspots to shopping for all budgets and a great social scene, Leeds has something for every student. It is hardly a surprise that it was recently ranked as the fourth best student city in the UK (StudentHut, 2018), offering opportunities to suit all tastes and great value for money.

Leeds is also quite compact, with lots of public transport that will make it easy for your child to get around. Situated in the heart of Leeds, our City campus is ideally placed. Its main buildings are served by numerous bus routes and located only a few minutes’ walk from Leeds train station. Headingley campus, on the other hand, is in perfect contrast to the bustling city. Set in 100 acres of parkland, it offers easy access to Leeds city centre and is adjacent to the vibrant ‘student towns’ of Headingley and Hyde Park, which are completely geared up for students. Whether they commute from home or move to Leeds, your child will easily familiarise themselves with the city, meet new people and fit right in.

As a big, booming city, Leeds also offers lots of job and placement opportunities across a wide range of business sectors. With approximately 2,370 organisations providing more than 5,000 placement opportunities to our students every year, quite a few of them decide to stay on after their studies and make Leeds their home.

Taking safety seriously

Our city has also been ranked as the best city in Britain for quality of life, beating the likes of London, Manchester and Edinburgh and retaining its Purple Flag safety status for a third consecutive year (ATCM, 2019). The wellbeing of our students is always our top priority. Our Safety and security page provides helpful information about personal safety, looking after one’s belongings, and who to contact for at any point. Trained security staff are on campus and at many halls of residence 24 hours a day to ensure the welfare and safety of your child.
