Ryan Ellis

Lecturer

Ryan Ellis is a lecturer across Undergraduate and Postgraduate Primary Education courses at Leeds Beckett University. He specialises in Primary Physical Education and teaches across the PE modules on these courses.

After leaving the classroom as a primary school teacher, Ryan specialised in delivering high-quality professional development to primary school staff across North Yorkshire on how to teach outstanding PE. Through this time, he created and curated The PE Umbrella podcast as an opportunity for teachers and trainees to access professional development on the go, interviewing practitioners from across the globe and uncovering varied perspectives on PE from around the globe.

Building on his work with The PE Umbrella, Ryan has since worked with other Universities and School school-centred initial Teacher Training providers to deliver PE courses. He has also been a keynote speaker at regional PE and Physical Activity conferences.
