Dr Joy Ogbemudia
Senior Lecturer
Joy is a Lecturer in the Leadership, Governance and People Management subject group at Leeds Business School, Leeds Beckett University. She specialises in Human Resource Management, Gender and Migration studies and Diversity Management.
Joy is a prolific academic with a BA in English Language, MSc in Human Resource Management and a PhD in Women's Studies. Her interdisciplinary background has helped to build a robust teaching portfolio in various departments across the social sciences in Sociology, Social Works, Centre for Life Long Learning, Human Resource Management and Business Management.
Joy's approach to teaching is greatly shaped by her experience of schooling and teaching both in Nigeria and the UK. Paying attention to the different learning styles, she is committed to building student-centred learning environment where students are supported to engage in learning.
One of Joy's goals is to shift classroom learning from quality control to quality assurance, paying attention to assessment of learning instead of assessment for learning. Her passion is to facilitate learning in a positive environment where every learner feels valued and enabled irrespective of background.
