Amrinder Romana

Senior Lecturer

Amrinder Romana is a senior lecturer with over 15 years of experience in creative arts subjects, specifically 3D Modelling, Animation, Motion Capture, and Visual Effects. His research focuses on exploring the effective integration of technology within interdisciplinary contexts and disciplines.

Amrinder is currently studying for a PhD in Facial Animation, specifically looking at improving the facial posing process of expressions through developing a parametric model approach. Within his research, he delves into the intricacies of facial animation, exploring the underlying mechanisms that govern realistic and nuanced expressions. Through his rigorous investigations, he seeks to identify areas of improvement in the current facial posing process. By developing a parametric model approach, he aims to create a more efficient and accurate means of posing 3D facial expressions, bringing greater authenticity and believability to animated characters.

Research Interests

Amrinder's research practice revolves around the effective integration of technology within interdisciplinary contexts, demonstrated through projects like The Bradford Dhol Project, Levelling Up History, Culturally-Symbolic Composition, and Social Cohesion Project. This multifaceted approach combines animation, sound drawing, and 3D scanning to explore their potential in fostering social cohesion and cultural understanding. Animation visually communicates cultural narratives, sound drawing encourages individual expression, and 3D scanning preserves and showcases cultural heritage. These projects aim to celebrate diversity, create connections, and contribute to a more inclusive society.
