sound space place

Led by Professor Nikos Stavropoulos, this research group is concerned with spatial music and sound art.

‘Spatial Music’ is a term now widely used to refer to any kind of recorded music that makes creative use of spatial audio.

Accordingly, this research cluster is interested in embracing spatial audio techniques to shape sound on a spherical domain, where space (position, dimension, and perspective of sound sources) becomes a usable compositional element.

Members of the group explore the application of spatial audio in acousmatic music, sound installations, and site-specific audio works.

Keywords:

  • Spatial music
