Studying Data Science

In a heavily male-dominated field such as Data Science, attaining a position in this industry as a woman as can be life changing in addition to being a role model for young girls. It’s so important to be able to give back and to inspire the next generation and that women and girls have security whilst pursuing their studies.

Not only do I love my course, I also recognise that I am representing the potential women can reach within this field of study. I want to prove that women can break the mould and have the capacity to achieve great things. 

Leeds Beckett offer fantastic and engaging courses and have a large support network to help students from less fortunate backgrounds. As a result, this has made me committed to my degree and to channel that commitment into helping other women tap into their potential. 

How will The Bright Futures Scholarship help?

Coming from a low-income family has only ever motivated to me to work to the best of my ability and to make my parents proud. The Bright Futures Scholarship will ease the stresses and strains of university life and will allow me to concentrate on my studies.

Being someone who is committed to and motivated by their education, knowing that I don’t need to worry about my finances during my time at university is a huge relief. Now I can make the most of the opportunities my course has to offer.

I really feel that this scholarship is not only a fantastic opportunity but also a real responsibility. Being awarded The Bright Futures Scholarship means that I have been recognised as a student with great potential.

The person who receives this scholarship needs to be a person who uplifts and inspires others, and I believe I have the qualities to do this. This opportunity given to me is something that I would love to one day be able to give to others further down the line in my career.
