New to Practice Based Education

We have two modules for clinicians who are new to practice based education.

The aim of this module is to discuss how you can prepare for and support a student during their placement. In this module we will discuss and explore:

  • What you need to plan and consider before the student arrives
  • Preparing the learning environment and the first introduction/induction session
  • The different supervision models and learning activities used in clinical practice and how conducive these are to the learning experience
  • Giving (and receiving) feedback to your students – do you always get it right?

Following the session, please do provide feedback. We always welcome your thoughts and feedback as this will help us to shape future sessions/courses.

Provide Feedback

The aim of this module is to develop your knowledge and understanding of how you can support and nurture your student on clinical placement. In this module we will discuss and explore:

  • The assessment process using CPAF
  • The student with learning/support needs
  • The student that is not meeting their learning outcomes & the exceptional student

Following the session, please do provide feedback. We always welcome your thoughts and feedback as this will help us to shape future sessions/courses.

Provide Feedback

For the more experienced practice based educators we offer a refresher session. To attend this course, we recommend that you have had experience in supporting students.

The aim of this session is to develop your supervision skills by working though different tasks and case scenarios. We want you to share your experiences of supporting students in practice-based education and any good practice. You will work through different discussion points and case studies and discuss how you may approach certain situations, developing any new ideas and new ways of working from working together in small groups. We also want to learn from you.

Following the session, please do provide feedback. We always welcome your thoughts and feedback as this will help us to shape future sessions/courses.
