Sarah Dawson

Senior Lecturer

Sarah is a Lecturer in Education at the Carnegie School of Education.

After completing a BA in German and French, Sarah worked teaching Primary Foreign Languages in the schools around Montpellier in the South of France. In 1997 she successfully gained her PGCE from the University of Leeds and subsequently worked for twenty years in secondary schools in Leeds and Bradford, gaining Advanced Skills Teacher status and latterly her NPQH. Sarah has 14 years of senior leadership experience. Before leaving secondary teaching Sarah was Deputy Headteacher for teaching and learning.

Research Interests

Sarah is interested in the teaching and learning of Primary Foreign Languages and particularly how to ensure Initial teacher education supports the training of confident and competent trainees who are willing to raise the profile of Primary Foreign Languages.
