Senior Lecturer

Senior Lecturer and Course Leader in Sport Business Management. Neill's academic and professional background lies within the business of sport. Prior to pursuing a career in academia Neill worked in a number of roles including national governing bodies.

Neill is Course Leader for BA (Hons) Sport Business Management and he teaches across a range of modules on the programme as well as the postgraduate MA Sport Business.

Current Teaching

Neill teaches across a range of modules including;

  • Managing People in Sport (L5)

Research Interests

Neill's research is primarily focused on corporate governance within sport. His PhD (titled: The Development of Sport and Leisure Provision through Social Enterprise) explores the internal governance processes and structures within Leisure Trusts in the United Kingdom. The area of mission drift is a key focus within the study.

These findings along with future publications will inform the growing academic discussion around corporate governance within sport and its cross-sectoral application. Further, it will help inform policy making decisions surrounding the provision of sport and leisure in the UK.
