Research at Leeds Beckett
About Kathryn Brook
Kathryn is a Leeds Beckett graduate of the BSc (Hons) Sport, Physical Activity and Health degree course and now works mainly within this course, teaching on a variety of modules.
Kathryn is also a personal tutor for the BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise science degree course and teaches on the accompanying modules.
Kathryn's main research area investigates the processes of physical activity engagement, participation and maintenance for 'Hard to Reach' Women. This research aims to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the challenges and successes experienced by women who are more likely to face daily disparity or disadvantage when it comes to participating in regular physical activity.
The research currently focuses on women who are already taking part in PA clubs or programmes and asks what it is about them or the programme that makes a difference and enables their participation.
This research will make an impact by feeding forward key findings towards the development or improvement of new or existing physical activity opportunities. Aiming to reach more 'hard to reach' women who are currently inactive or sedentary.
