Janine Partington

Senior Lecturer

Janine has managed a range of successful sports initiatives and projects such Commonwealth Games legacy programmes, and in 2008 worked as part of the Volunteer Management Team at the World Swimming Championships held in Manchester. However, her main area of work has been the management of community sports projects in deprived communities. She worked as Community Projects Manager for RoFTRA (Rochdale Federation of Tenants & Residents Associations) for eight years, overseeing and developing a range of externally funded projects with a focus on sport, youth and community work, and health. Janine's current teaching focuses on the management of sport development, sport in the community and sports policy and governance. She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Research Interests

Her academic interests include the strategic management of sport development, partnerships in sport and community sports development. She has had an article on community sport and community empowerment published in Managing Leisure, and has co-authored several chapters in 'Strategic Sport Development'. She is also currently involved in research on graduate employability in sports development.
