Darren Sugden

Senior Lecturer

Darren has worked for over 25 years in the university sector as a lecturer in economics and other business related disciplines. Current responsibilities include Course Leader for Business Economics and Course Leader for Economics for Business.

Darren began his university lecturing career at Humberside University in 1991. Darren has taught on a variety of economics and business related courses including macroeconomics, strategic management, role and structure of financial institutions and econometrics.

Darren's early research interests included post-Keynesian monetary analysis before changing direction to university curriculum design.

Research Interests

Darren's current research interests are focused on the way universities have responded to the criticism that their economics courses are not fit for purpose post the Great Recession of 2008. The research includes the difficulties departments face in implementing those changes and whether those changes are indeed for the better.
