Leeds Varsity 2019 is nearly here!

Wednesday 2 October will see the return of the annual Leeds Varsity clash between Leeds Beckett University and current holders the University of Leeds.

Last year saw Leeds Beckett narrowly lose their first ever Varsity and there is only one thing on the mind of our teams this year - revenge!

This year will see some monumental changes to the Leeds Varsity fixture, with a new wave of student taking part for their first time ever and in the biggest change to the calendar, the women's rugby union first team will take part in the Rugby Finale at Emerald Headingley stadium.

What you need to know about Varsity 2019

Plus Icon What is Leeds Varsity

Leeds Varsity is the biggest sports competition in Leeds Beckett University's calendar. Over 1,400 students compete across 25 fixtures for the right to be crowned the top sporting university in Leeds.

The main Leeds Varsity Festival will take place on Wednesday 2 October at venues across the city of Leeds, including Leeds Beckett's Headingley Campus, where most of our teams will compete.

The scoring system

The scoring for Varsity is a simple format - the university with the most overall points will become Leeds Varsity Champions.

Each team gains three points for their university if they win, one for a draw and no points are awarded for a loss.
