Leeds Beckett University joins the University Alliance
University Alliance represents 13 large to mid-sized civic universities who are leaders in technical and professional education. Alliance universities are known for their close links with industry, professions and employers, and for their delivery of public sector workforce skills and training.
Professor Peter Slee, Leeds Beckett University Vice Chancellor said: “Higher education continues to play a vital role in shaping the success of the UK economy in increasingly uncertain times. I am delighted that Leeds Beckett University has today joined the University Alliance, where we will work alongside colleagues who share our passion for forging an entrepreneurial, diverse and highly-skilled workforce.
“As an anchor institution for the Leeds City Region, our university’s partnership with the Alliance will be of great benefit to Yorkshire and beyond, strengthening our links with business, creative industries and other public sector institutions.”
Birmingham City University has also joined the University Alliance, with the membership of both universities being formally ratified by the organisation’s directors at a members’ meeting on 17 October. The universities join the Alliance just as the group launches its renewed vision, mission and strategy.
Vanessa Wilson, University Alliance CEO said: “I am thrilled to formally welcome Leeds Beckett and Birmingham City Universities to our Alliance. I am pleased that our work to champion the vital impact of technical and professional universities on individuals, communities and the economy is attracting those who understand and share this vision.
“As we embark upon an exciting future for the Alliance, I look forward to working with these two excellent universities that so proudly embody the values and priorities of our mission.”
