Awards of up to £80k available for medical technology collaborations
Grow MedTech is a new programme supporting medical technology innovation in the Leeds and Sheffield City Regions and is looking to fund projects that advance the development and de-risking of technologies to make them more attractive for further investment from commercial organisations.
The programme is working with companies to better understand their technology development and innovation needs and is strategically matching researchers with companies to achieve these needs.
Three funding calls have been announced, with applications opening in October, for projects from academic-led teams at Grow MedTech’s partner institutions: Leeds Beckett University, University of Leeds, University of Bradford, Huddersfield University, Sheffield Hallam University and University of York.
Grants of up to £5,000 are available for Proof of Market projects, up to £20,000 for Proof of Feasibility projects, and up to £80,000 for Proof of Concept projects.
Applications are welcome from all academics – from post-doctoral to professorial level.
Successful applicants will be supported throughout the life of their project by the Grow MedTech team – from developing your initial application through to the project’s completion.
Applications for the Proof of Market call are reviewed monthly and should be submitted by the 15th of the month; upcoming deadlines for the Proof of Feasibility call are: 11 January, 18 April and 5 July; and expressions of interest for the Proof of Concept call should be submitted by the closing date of 28 February.
