Cyber Essentials accreditation for LBU
21 August 2019 - Katie Langford
As part of Leeds Beckett University’s commitment to providing a safe and robust digital environment for its data, IT Services has been working to gain Cyber Essentials, a government sponsored annual cyber security assessment.
In the last few months we have been independently assessed and we were awarded our Cyber Essentials certificate on 16 July.
Thank you to all of those who have contributed to reaching this goal.
This certification will allow the university to bid for government research contracts. It also illustrates to all partners that we work with that we are an institution that takes cyber security seriously.
While this accreditation is a positive step and well deserved, it is only one part of the work IT Services is doing to ensure that we remain vigilant to possible cyber threats.
IT Services works diligently to maintain and update our systems and hardware as well as raise awareness about IT Security with colleagues across our institution.
It is important that that all colleagues at Leeds Beckett adopt good IT Security behaviours to keep our university safe. To learn more about IT Security and how you can adopt good digital habits, visit the IT Security Webpage.
