Matty Bovan launches acclaimed collection at London Fashion Week
18 February 2019
Leeds Beckett University senior lecturer and fashion designer Matty Bovan has debuted his Autumn/Winter 2019 collection to critical acclaim at London Fashion Week.
Matty, who is a member of the School of Art, Architecture and Design, launched his collection on the opening day of the show, receiving praise from fashion giant vogue for his ‘spellbinding’ work.
It is the second time in recent months that the magazine has honoured him, after he was named in their 20 most memorable gowns of 2018 list.
His creation, which was worn by Ru Paul’s Drag Race winner Aquaria, was named alongside design heavyweights such as Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton and Chanel on the list.
It has been a highly successful 12 months for the lecturer, who was also widely praised for his collection that was launched at last year’s London Fashion Week.
He was chosen to represent Leeds to an international audience at the London Design Biennale in November, and was the subject of an in-depth feature by The Guardian.
