An Appetite for Cookery and Lifestyle

Dr Melanie Chan focused on smart-phone apps and their relationship with celebrity cooks in, ‘An Appetite for Cookery and Lifestyle.’

Apps (or applications) for smart-phone and tablets by well-known cooks are increasingly popular. This talk focuses on two apps: Nigella: The Quick Collection and Jamie Oliver’s Recipes, exploring how interactive features such as voice control, shopping list features and links to social networks encourage habitual usage and increase the reach of these celebrity cooks and their brands.

The talk was filmed by Rafiq Yaramahdi, a student from the Northern Film School.

This event was part of Leeds Cultural Conversations, a series of lunchtime talks organised by the Centre for Culture & the Arts. For more information on the series please visit the website.
