Choosing any kind of degree is hard. When you're weighing up your options, you never really know if it’s going to be the perfect fit for you. How can you, when you've not studied that degree before? You need to choose a subject that will interest and challenge you. For me, studying Marketing & Advertisement Management at Leeds Beckett was one of the best decisions I ever made.

I fell into my marketing degree at Leeds Beckett due to not enjoying studies at a different university. I studied finance, but I always found the marketing side of business interesting as it allowed me to be creative in my ideas and think outside the box. I decided to change courses and university, and after accepting an unconditional offer from Leeds Beckett, excitement set in as I knew the next 4 years where going to be some of the best.

The first year of my degree was a challenge as there was so much to cover and learn in such a short space of time. Due to the nature of the degree, it created a foundation that would be built on in the coming years. From presentations, to vlogs and impossible assignments, first year of marketing wasn’t always the easiest but I came out on top.

One of the best things about studying marketing at Leeds Beckett was the amount of help and support that was given to me from the Course Director and tutors. I never once felt I couldn’t ask for help and all my worries were eased after having regular discussions with the academic staff. From small issues with my workload to job applications for placements, help and advice was always there.

Another benefit of studying my particular degree was the opportunity to take a year out on placement to work in industry. This was one of the best experiences in my academic time and I gained a vast amount of marketing knowledge and real-life experience in industry. I would 100% recommend any student thinking about choosing a sandwich degree to do it, as its beneficial in the long run and will aid you in final year studies. Doing a placement will give you a clear advantage over the competition when it comes to applying to graduate roles, and give you a good basis and foundation when starting out in a full-time role.

A perk of studying Marketing and Advertisement Management was the chance to explore all aspects of business within a 4-year degree. It’s more than just marketing as it lays a groundwork for you to become a manager in the future. From accounting to economics and digital strategy to market research, there is a whole range of subjects that are covered and learned.

Anyone interested in studying marketing at Leeds Beckett should leap at the chance to study it in my opinion. The course is great, the teachers are excellent, and the support is always there. Ranking fourth in the UK for graduate employment and 96.6% of all graduates finding work within six months after leaving, it’s the perfect place to create your future!
