George Sprittles

He left us a marvelous legacy in the form of a scrapbook of photographs recording the hospital environment, staff and patients. The scrapbook marks a remarkable continuity with our University buildings at Beckett Park, our Headingley Campus. The book was handed to his niece, a lecturer in history at the City of Leeds Training College, who used it in her teaching practice. Subsequently she passed it on to a teaching colleague who on his retirement gifted the scrapbook to our Archive and Special Collections. In later life George Sprittles became Canon at Southwell Cathedral.

The scrapbook is available to view as part of the Archive and Special Collections Online Archive. http://archives.leedsmet.ac.uk/icaatom-1.3.1/uploads/r/archive-and-special-collections/6/4/6457/sprittles.pdf
