12 Stages All Students Go Through During Exams

Whether you want to accept it or not, exams are always going to be a tough and stressful time.

12 Stages All Students Go Through During Exams

And seen as exams and deadlines are getting closer, maybe you'll recognise a few of these?

Remember, no matter how bad it seems, you'll make it out in one piece and then you can breathe for a bit...

Here are 12 emotional stages you might go through (or could have already experienced) through this examination period:

1. Denial

Telling yourself, "I have SO much time to start, I'll be fine" is guaranteed to be regretted in a couple of weeks - don't risk it!

2. Acceptance

That realisation that it's time you joined the rest of the university in the library.

3. Determination

You've made it out of your dressing gown and are actually sitting upright at a desk - who would have thought it?

4. Procrastination

But not before making the most detailed and brightly coloured revision timetable ever and then rewarding yourself by scrolling through Instagram, then Snapchat, then Twitter...

5. Stress

You get down to it and suddenly feeloverwhelmed at how much work you have to cram into approximately 2 weeks. Argh!

6. Focus

You calm yourself down and get wired in, and are now spending from dawn till dusk (hopefully that way around) slogging.

7. Teariness

This is also known as Stress Stage x10! The point when you find a topic you don't know and convince yourself all is doomed.

8. Calm

When you find a friend who's there to answer all of your revision prayers. What we could without our amazing brainy friends?

9. Boredom

2 weeks of revision and not one single exam yet. When will this all be over?!

10. Anger

People around are finishing left, right and centre. Plus, boasting about going back to spending their evenings bingeing Netflix isn't exactly helping. And breathe!

11. Silent excitement

Each exam done or coursework handed in is another tick on the list (or scribble on the timetable) - the end is so near you can almost smell it.

12. Actual excitement

Finally, you can put your pen down and breathe that huge sigh of relief. Time to go back to bed!

So, whichever stage you're at, keep going, and remember, it'll all be over soon (and it'll be worth it - we promise...)
