What is the National Student Survey (NSS) and who is eligible to take part?

Your feedback is really important to us and each year we ask our final year students to highlight what we're good at and where we need to improve through the independent NSS survey. The NSS is a national survey, run by Ipsos MORI and aimed at final year undergraduates across the UK.

Key facts about the National Student Survey

  • It takes 5-10 minutes to complete
  • Nearly 2.7 million students have taken part in the NSS so far
  • 357 institutions nationwide are eligible to take part

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

A.

By completing your survey, you are telling us about your own experiences and also helping future students make the right choices about where and what to study as results are published nationally.

We need as many people as possible to get involved and fill in their survey – the results are very important to us and help us continuously improve the Leeds Beckett student experience, so your contribution really does matter.

A.

At Leeds Beckett, the NSS launches on Monday 05 February 2024 and if you are a student in the final year of your undergraduate course, you will be able to complete the survey through the NSS link on the homepage of your MyBeckett profile.

You will also receive an email on Thursday 08 February 2024 to your university student email account from Ipsos MORI, inviting you to complete the survey online. Not all students are eligible to take part, and you will only receive an email if you are eligible.

The survey should take no more than 5-10 minutes to complete. You will be asked a range of questions about:

  • the academic support you received during your studies
  • how you felt about the organisation and management of your programme
  • our learning community and your student voice
  • the learning resources you may have used whilst studying with us
  • your overall satisfaction
  • Your answers and comments are entirely confidential and will not be passed on to your course teams other than as summary results. Your contact details won't be used for any other purpose.
  • If you don’t respond to the invitation email to take part, you may receive a follow up email, text, letter or phone call from Ipsos MORI.

These will go to the telephone number and address on your student records. Please make sure your contact details are up to date via Leeds Beckett Online Welcome.
