Wendy Altinors

Senior Lecturer

Wendy is Course Leader for the International Foundation Year and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She has taught English in Turkey, Japan, Ecuador and the UK in many different contexts including Further and Higher Education.

Wendy has worked as an English Language teacher (EAP, EFL, ESOL) since 1993. Her previous employment in Further Education spanned EFL and ESOL and she was recognised as an Advanced Practitioner with a cross-college role. She has been a teacher trainer (CELTA and DELTA) for over 20 years and has also supervised level 6 and level 7 students with their dissertations.

Wendy has a particular interest in migration histories, particularly of Euro-Turks, which is reflected in her current PhD study.

Research Interests

Wendy is currently studying a PhD examining the concept of integration through life stories of those of a Turkish migration background in Germany from 1961 to the present day using the lens of positioning theory and an ethnic boundary making approach.
