Course Director

Neil Kelley is a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader for the Marketing Subject Group at Leeds Business School. Neil is responsible for both undergraduate marketing degrees, Marketing Management and Marketing with Advertising Management.

In addition to this he is a Chartered Marketer and the Lead Examiner for two modules, Digital Marketing and Mobile Marketing in Practice, at the Chartered Institute of Marketing, and an examiner at the University of Cambridge.

Neil specialises in marketing communications, with a strong focus on digital marketing and planning. Prior to moving back into education, Neil has worked in a number of marketing roles, as well as providing training and services, for organisations such as Electronic Arts, Toyota, Trading Standards Institute, Daresbury Laboratories and a number of Professional Bodies. Neil continues his professional involvement in marketing through his work with enterprise and has recently presented at the Leeds Digital Careers Fair and Digital Derbyshire.

Among his achievements, Neil has won two Golden Robes, student-led awards from the Students' Union, as Personal Tutor of the Year and Module Leader for Module of the Year, Digital Marketing and has been on the judging panel for the CIM Marketing Excellence Awards.

  • Advertising and Media Strategy.

Research Interests

Neil’s research is focused on digital marketing communications, and is currently involved in undertaking an exploratory analysis of the use of online brand narratives by a variety of organisations. Other areas of interest include the use of seasonal advertising, digital story-telling and participatory media.
