Senior Lecturer

Chris John Brooke is a Senior Lecturer in Film Production and Post Production at The Northern Film School, Leeds School of Arts, Leeds Beckett University.

After several years in his early twenties freelancing as a camera operator and editor on a series of independent films in the North East, U.K., Chris produced his first feature documentary From York to Palestine in 2006. He has contributed camera work to TV documentaries including Conquest (Greystone Productions / History Channel), Back to the Blue (Raw Cut/Born Free Foundation), and followed up on his own documentary work with a second feature Spoke on the Water (2007).

Chris incorporated his production company in 2010 to specialise in documentary production services for commercial clients. The diverse portfolio of work includes exhibitions for major national museums and galleries, charities and NGOs as well as a substantial body of work produced for the video games sector, including the six-part series Revolution 25 (2016) distributed in Europe by Koch Media.

From 2010-2013, Chris coordinated the Northern TV Network connecting regional factual production companies with the commissioning editors of major network broadcasters including the BBC, Ch4, ITV, UKTV, Sky Arts and Discovery. In 2012 he worked with Aesthetica Magazine to establish the delivery strategy for the now BAFTA accredited ASFF Film Festival.

Chris previously sat on the steering committee for York UNESCO City of Media Arts, and was a Court Member of York Guild of Media Arts until 2019.

Chris is a regular collaborator with video game developers Revolution Software, makers of the hugely popular Broken Sword series. He has produced video content for global marketing campaigns distributed via major publishers including Xbox, Playstation, Apple and Nintendo. From 2018-2020 he worked with Revolution on the Apple exclusive title Beyond A Steel Sky, sequel to the 1990s cult classic Beneath A Steel Sky.

Chris' latest film, the award winning documentary Hiroshima: City of Water was released in 2021.
