Rugby Union

Leeds Beckett University’s Rugby Union club boasts six British University and Colleges Sport (BUCS) teams including five men’s and one women’s club.

The men’s first team compete in the BUCS Super Rugby league against the top ten universities in the UK.

Our programme allows talented players to hone their skills - with over 30 athletes signing professional contracts with clubs in the RFU National League structure in recent years.

All of our players are encouraged to strive to be better and play at the highest standard possible - with a clear pathway to the first team for any of our players

Equally, the programme prides itself on catering for all standards and enjoys a strong culture that unites players across all of our teams.

During the summer months/off-season our teams compete in a variety of 7s competitions as part of Leeds Beckett RFC.

In 2014-15 our men’s first team won the BUCS Rugby Union Championship Cup with a thrilling 31-23 win over Loughborough at Twickenham.

Leeds Beckett has enjoyed a successful partnership with RFU Championship club Yorkshire Carnegie over the last decade.

There have been many Beckett players go on to represent Carnegie throughout that time - as part of the club’s academy – with over five players making first team appearances for Yorkshire Carnegie last season.
