About the club
Leeds Beckett’s Lacrosse club has two men’s and two women’s teams who compete in the British Universities and Colleges Sports (BUCS) competition as well as national competitions.
The club caters for a range abilities including players representing their countries in international competitions to complete beginners of the game.
Both the men’s and women’s squads have a development team – offering opportunities for beginners to try out the sport and progress on to our top teams.
Our teams have enjoyed a lot of success in recent years from first place league finishes to claiming BUCS Championship Cup and BUCS Trophy titles – as well as National University Lacrosse Championship medals.
Lacrosse is frequently cited as the fastest sport on two feet, and has a rapidly expanding pool of student players, who take up the sport at University.
Originating from Native Americans, the team sport uses sticks to manoeuvre a small rubber ball between players in order to score past a goalkeeper.
The rules of mens' and womens' lacrosse vary greatly, with mens' seeing full contact and with that, a range of protective equipment, and womens' being semi-contact.
We understand that to help breed success players must be treated as individuals. Training programmes at Beckett include:
- Performance coaching
- Strength & conditioning sessions
We also have an excellent range of training facilities available, including a dedicated 3G pitch with specific pitch markings for Lacrosse as well as sports and fitness facilities across both of our campuses.
