Junior Swimming Lessons

Carnegie Swim Academy

Our continuous programme runs all year round including throughout all school holidays and follows The Swim England Learn to Swim Programme which is a world-leading syllabus, used across England that is helping children learn how to swim. It is a fantastic syllabus that supports your child’s confidence, enjoyment, and safety in the water.

All our teachers are fully qualified and attend training continuously to be the best that they can be to ensure that your child receives the best experience. We also work hard to employ a large student base to contribute to student employability, something we value highly. As student timetables may change throughout the year, Swim Teachers may vary. Classes vary in size up to 12 children.

We deliver a variety of classes along the Swim England Framework including Ducklings for under five-year-olds, these classes are taught in adult and child style meaning that a parent or guardian accompanies the child in the water. This is a wonderful bonding experience.

After progressing from Ducklings to Stage 1 all swimming is done independently by the child, all parents must remain onsite and can watch from our viewing balcony. Our Energy Bar can provide hot and cold refreshments whilst watching lessons.

Lessons run on four days a week: Monday evening, Friday evenings, Saturday mornings and Sunday mornings. Your day and time will depend on your Stage. You may have to change days as you progress through the programme.

Memberships are Direct Debits only at £25.99 per month for one 30-minute lesson per week. The membership also allows the membership holder free entry into General Swims and Family Swims.

On completing Stage Seven within the main framework, we also run 2 branches from these which children can progress to:

  • Stages Eight-Ten which is about developing sport specific skills to encourage a focus on aquatic sports, extending skills already learnt for those that want to do more swimming.
  • Rookie Lifeguard which teaches valuable survival, rescue and sports skills all delivered in an exciting way that keeps children involved and motivated.

If you are interested in joining Carnegie Swim Academy, please click the button on this page to join our waiting list. When a space is available in your desired class, we will contact you. Please make sure the details you provide are correct and up to date, to ensure you are contactable.

Upon confirming a space suitable for you, you must set up a Direct Debit before being booked onto the class you wish at your desired day and time. Delays in setting this up could result in you losing your space, so please do this as soon as possible.

Private one to one lessons

Private one to one lessons are available separately to Carnegie Swim Academy – our group lessons programme.

Private one to one lessons are done by independent Swim Teachers at various times. Each Teacher is different with some having specialisms to help improve on certain skills. These lessons are an ideal short-term solution to helping improve a skill you are struggling with or developing a certain stroke. Due to these being run independently there is no waiting list held, Swim Teachers book in their own clients.

To be put in touch with an available Swim Teacher please fill out the Enquiry Form on the right. There may be a delay if all Swim Teachers are fully booked.

  1. Progress

All children progress at different paces. Swim Teachers are constantly assessing progress and marking this down on the iPads at poolside.

It is worthwhile remembering that children need to show some consistency in their ability to perform the tasks so the teachers will keep an eye on swimmers to ensure they can do the task more than once.

Once a Stage is completed you will need to move your child into the next Stage. Please speak to a Customer Advisor at reception and they will let you know the available days and times for the next class. Please be aware that you may have to move days to move up into the next class. You must move up within 2 weeks of passing a Stage.

Your child cannot move up until their percentage is at 100% and this can only be edited by a Swim Teacher.

You can access Home Portal, which shows areas of improvement and percentage completion of current stage. You will need your membership card number to log in.

  2. Freeze or Cancel

Junior memberships can only be frozen on medical grounds. Please email a doctor’s note for this to be processed. Alternatively, if you wish to cancel your membership, this must be done via email.

We require at least one month notice of your next Direct Debit date to be able to request the cancellation with DFC.

  3. Movements

Moves are not made automatically. You must speak to a Customer Advisor at Reception; they will let you know available days and times for the new Stage that you are moving into. Please be aware that you may have to move to a different day for the new Stage. You must move within 2 weeks of passing.

  4. Payments

All membership payments for Carnegie Swim Academy are taken via Direct Debit. All Direct Debits for Sport and Active Lifestyles are managed by our collection agent Debit Finance Collections (DFC).

If your enquiry is in relation to your bank details or missed payments, please contact Debit Finance Collections (DFC) directly on 01908 422007 or email DFC on info@debitfinance.co.uk.

For further details on any of the above, please reference the Welcome Brochure.
