School of Built Environment and Engineering research
Research in the School of the Built Environment and Engineering is organised through research groups and clusters that focus on providing high quality research activity and outputs across a range of disciplinary areas. Research groups in building performance and energy, civil engineering water research, spatial and neighbourhood planning support the work of the following subject groups – Civil Engineering, Planning, Housing and Human Geography, and Surveying and Construction Management - with research linked closely to industry through partnerships and professionally supported activities. The Unit’s research groups are part of the Leeds Sustainability Institute (LSI).
Through the research groups, clusters and the Institute, the Schools continue to pursue high quality planning and built environment research with quality outputs that underpins a core aim to provide research, education and training, focused on the creation and management of a more sustainable built environment. The School draws together expertise in sustainability research with the aim of (a) building a record of research that is focused on the technological and social aspects of sustainable urbanism and (b) establishing research excellence and research impact across the Unit’s research areas.
