Leeds Beckett Gymnastics Club to compete in BUCS Nationals competition
8 February 2019
The club are set to compete against rival universities at the New College in Leicester for this year’s Nationals contest.

Leeds Beckett’s Gymnastics Club will have three reigning BUCS champions competing in the event including Lauren Arthur, Nicole Burns – who also competed for the Isle of Man in last year’s Commonwealth Games - and Club Captain Molly Simpson.
Molly and her fellow club mates have set their goals high for the competition as they aim to claim top ten finishes across all competing categories as well as individual and team medals.
The club, who have doubled their number of competitors from last year’s competition, will field male and female gymnasts in most categories from the novice to elite levels.
Molly says the team have been working hard in training and are ready to compete.
“The team is very much looking forward to the weekend,” she said.
“We have lots of people competing in their first-ever BUCS competition and the team has been working hard to develop their skills since September for this event.”
The club’s hard work and determination over the last five months will be put to the test at the weekend, with Molly and her teammates setting the bar high.
The team will travel with sixteen gymnasts, including eleven females competing across all categories from novice to elite including captain Molly who will compete in the bar, beam, floor and vault disciplines in the elite grade one category.
“We have sixteen gymnasts competing in the men's and women’s artistic gymnastics sections, with eleven females competing in all grades - from grade four to grade one as well as five males competing in grades three and two,” Molly said
“I will be competing in grade one and will be performing on all pieces including bar, beam, floor and vault.”
As part of the weekend the club will be officially taking over the Carnegie Sport Instagram account, with live updates provided throughout the competition.
