Jo completes four marathons in four days for Meningitis UK
Jo Gibson, an Associate Director at the Student Services General department, completed the Grim Four by Four on Thursday 8 – Sunday 11 November.
Raising money for Meningitis UK, Jo’s route took her through the Yorkshire countryside, battling rain, cold and mist along the way.
She had to wait over eight months for the opportunity to take part, after the March event she initially registered for was cancelled due to snow.
Despite being a relative newcomer to marathon distance runs, Jo held her own alongside those with far more experience, and was the third female runner to finish on days two and four.
Speaking about the experience, she said: “There was a small number of us that ran every day, and then a lot of other people that run for one or two days.
“This made for a fun group of runners all looking for slightly different things, and by day four was great camaraderie as well battled pains and aches to get through the day.”
Jo is still taking donations on her JustGiving page, which is available here.
