Events Management graduate receives prestigious industry award
BA (Hons) Events Management graduate Alex Stannard has been named as ‘Student of the Year’ by SPARK THINKING, an Ashfield Meetings & Events brand.
Alex, who graduated with a first class honours degree at Leeds Beckett in July, said: “I have loved my time at Leeds Beckett. I never imagined I would graduate with a first class honours degree, let alone receive the Student of the Year award. I am so grateful for the continuous support from the team at Leeds Beckett. I would also like to extend my appreciation to SPARK THINKING who have sponsored this award.”
Glenn Bowdin, Head of the UK Centre for Events Management at Leeds Beckett, added: “Alex is a worthy winner. She has not only studied hard to achieve top grades in her academic work, she has worked in the events industry throughout her course, developing her professional experience and networks. Alex undertook her placement year with a range of organisations, which provided her with opportunities to experience different sectors, develop a wide skill base and provide a diverse knowledge platform to allow her to shape her future career.
“We are very grateful to SPARK THINKING for their continued support. It was especially rewarding to see Heather Sharp and Graham Lord, both previous graduates of Leeds Beckett University, present the award and also lead the production project team that delivered our 2017 graduation ceremonies.”
Graham Lord, Production Lead at SPARK THINKING, said: “We are proud of our partnership with Leeds Beckett University. We are committed to supporting them in facilitating the creation of our next generation of thinkers, leaders and doers and the potential impetus this will have for business. It is evident that Alex has a bright future ahead of her.”
