Join us for our first Research and Enterprise Conference
Led by the Research and Enterprise service, the event will bring together our academic staff and research students to learn about the opportunities available across our university. The conference takes place at the Rose Bowl, City Campus, and runs from 09:30 to 16:30.
Online bookings for the event closed on Monday 25 June at 16:00; however, if you would like to attend, please email the Research and Enterprise team.
The event will begin with an introduction by Professor Peter Slee, our university Vice Chancellor, followed by a keynote talk from Professor Andrew Slade, Deputy Vice Chancellor Research and Enterprise, on the new Research Excellence Framework (REF) for 2021.
There will then be a choice of interactive and informative sessions, spanning research impact; supporting our research students; applying for research funding; knowledge transfer partnerships and research commercialisation; research collaboration and partnerships; promoting your research in the media; getting your work published; and practice as research in the creative arts.
Professor Cathy Barnes, Director of Research and Enterprise, said: “Here at Leeds Beckett we have such a lot of great work going on in research and enterprise; and this conference will support our colleagues to learn more about how they can get involved in activities at all levels. It will be great to see lots of people there from both schools and services, sharing ideas and taking advantage of the opportunities that will emerge.”
Speakers throughout the day include: Dr Ged Hall, Innovation and Enterprise Senior Training and Development Officer at the University of Leeds; John Clayton, Knowledge Transfer Adviser at Innovate UK; Dr Bill Davies, Senior Lecturer in the School of Social Sciences and Co-Director of our Prison Research Network; and colleagues from our Research and Enterprise, Libraries and Learning Innovation and External Relations teams.
Our Libraries & Learning Innovation team will be sharing more tips on maximising the impact of your research at the conference.
From 11:30 until 14:00, a showcase event, open to all staff and students, will take place in the Rose Bowl atrium. This will be a chance to network with colleagues and find out more about the varied research and enterprise projects and opportunities across our university.
Colleagues and students are encouraged to tweet about the conference, with questions being answered live throughout the day via the hashtag #BeckettREC18.
