Third Annual CARR Conference attracts rugby professionals from across the country

Exercise professionals from across the United Kingdom have gathered at the third annual Carnegie Adolescent Rugby Research (CARR) Conference in Leeds.
Over 140 delegates attended including coaches, strength and conditioning staff, sports scientists, PE teachers, and those who work with athletes at various levels. The attendees, who included representatives from the Rugby Football Union, Scottish Rugby Union, Welsh Rugby Union and Rugby Football League, all gathered at Leeds Beckett University where they shared cutting edge, up-to-date research aimed at enhancing the practice of professionals working within rugby and youth sport.
Speakers included leading international researchers in the field, and practitioners currently working with athletes at various levels. Topics covered were understanding the demands of match-play, opportunities to maximise development in strength and conditioning practices, organised chaos in youth sport, nutrition for the rugby player and applying statistics to sports performance and monitoring.
