Top ranking for Leeds Beckett in Student Barometer
The independent Student Barometer survey gives students the chance to give feedback on their experience at university and provides insight to help universities improve. A total of 188,031 students from 17 countries and 196 institutions took part in the Autumn 2016 survey, including 42 UK universities.
Conducted by i-graduate, it is the biggest survey of its kind covering a range of aspects of student experience including pre-arrival, arrival, learning, living and support.
In the Student Barometer rankings consisting of global universities surveying both domestic and international students (n=45) - personal tutors at Leeds Beckett ranked second in the world; and both technology and virtual learning facilities ranked fourth in the world from all students surveyed. Overall Leeds Beckett received a 93% satisfaction rate from home and international students.
Leeds Beckett scored highly on recommendation with 85% of all students surveyed saying they would recommend Leeds Beckett University
Professor Peter Slee, Vice Chancellor of Leeds Beckett University, said: “Here at Leeds Beckett we are ranked in the top quarter (for overall satisfaction) of the 45 universities that took part in the survey (Student Barometer) because we work so hard to ensure our students have an excellent education and fantastic experience. The latest Student Barometer survey which now rates the experience of UK students alongside international students, gives us a high ranking and I’m delighted so many students have rated Leeds Beckett so highly across so many areas”.
In key areas, Leeds Beckett ranked in the top two for the UK Modern index (n=6) by both home and international students. This included: academic rankings with students rating positively class size, course organisation, virtual learning and learning spaces; sport and social facilities, opportunities to earn money and campus buildings. Most support areas continue to be rated very positively against other UK Modern universities. This includes clubs/societies, catering, IT support and personal tutors – all in the top two.
The Student Barometer is run by i-graduate, an independent organisation that specialises in gathering customer insight and helping education providers enhance the quality of their services. It tracks and compares the decision-making, expectations, perceptions and intentions of students from application to graduation.
