The Legal Education and Training Review

The LETR research team and professional bodies will reflect on the last five years to discuss the future of legal education.

Leeds Law School and its Applied Legal Education Research Group are delighted to host a one-day conference marking five years since the publication of the Legal Education and Training Review (LETR). The conference will be an opportunity to reflect on the last five years and to discuss the future of legal education. We will hear from the LETR research team as well as the professional bodies who commissioned the report and will be able to consider the extent to which recommendations have been followed, predictions have held true and new paths have been taken.

Join us and our expert speakers to discuss some of the following issues:

  • Who are tomorrow’s lawyers and who should be educating/training them?
  • What are Law Degrees for?
  • Routes to qualification for solicitors, barristers and legal executives
  • Education and training for paralegals
  • The value of a liberal legal education
  • The impact of LETR and subsequent developments on specific substantive areas
  • Impact of the LETR and subsequent developments on Law Schools
  • International comparisons
  • The Future of Legal Education and Training

With only limited tickets available for this conference, please book early to avoid disappointment. There is a small charge of £40 for attendance to cover the cost of the event. A reduced postgraduate student rate of £10 is available.

Refreshments and lunch will be provided.
