Responsible Tourism Management Student Wins Prestigious Award
Responsible Tourism Management MSc distance learning students, Anna Alaman, has won the prestigious TODO Award at ITB Berlin for the "Women in tourism" initiative, for social enterprise Open Eyes.
Open Eyes is a social enterprise in responsible tourism.
Since 2011, their hand-crafted experiences have brought immersive experiences to guests and profound transformation to hosts, both in urban and rural settings. Open Eyes creates alternative livelihoods for communities excluded from the tourism chain model in India. They focus on woman empowerment to grow participation and aspiration.
Their tours are customized or tailor-made for groups, families or solo travellers and are specialized in authentic cultural and wellness life-changing experiences.
"Women in Tourism was initiated after 7 years spent designing responsible tourism experiences and realizing that no tourism enterprises were actively working to reduce the gap in gender equality in India. Women in Tourism is different: it seeks employment parity, deeper transformation and brings feminine management values to grow women.
Open Eyes create opportunities for women to get better jobs to enhance their role as catalysts for economic growth across 3 key areas: Product Development, Training, Marketing & Market Access.
