Leeds Business School

First year undergraduate students are having their eyes and ears opened to the delights of opera.

Our undergraduate students studying Marketing at Leeds Business School, are having their eyes and ears opened to the delights of opera.

As part of a module looking at how businesses manage and use information for marketing Opera North have brought real-world insights to the classroom. The package of support included a visit to the Howard Assembly Rooms as part of Leeds Light Night; two guest lectures; and access to Opera North’s marketing and publicity materials. Seeing Opera North perform as part of Leeds Light Night was a truly immersive experience that the students positively engaged with. Lesley Patrick of Opera North delivered an engaging guest lecture followed by a question and answer session. The information, talks and visit have all helped students better to understand the environment in which Opera North work and have provided them with a real warm welcome  to Leeds.

Dr Brian Jones, who leads the Information for Marketing module, commented: “Opera North have been most helpful and have provided the students with an enriched business informed curriculum that has shed light on their information needs, opportunities and challenges.”

Lesley Patrick of Opera North commented: “Opera North have thoroughly enjoyed working with the Marketing students at Leeds Beckett University. Understanding the information needs, research processes and marketing activities of businesses can help improve performance, productivity, innovation and competition. Opera North are pleased to be able to help shape and inform the thinking and knowledge of the next generation of graduate Marketers.”
