Animations & Interaction

The Leeds Beckett University website occasionally uses animations to page elements and animated gifs to add impact to pages. If you wish to stop them from playing for accessibility purposes or for personal preference then please see the guidance below. Please note that browsers sometimes change how they operate, so please refer to your browser help files to find their latest information.
How do I turn off animations?

Chrome

Chrome users will need to use browser extensions. Animation Policy from Google will help you set your own preferences.

Microsoft Edge

There is currently no way to disable animations within Microsoft Edge. Users of Edge (Chromium) browser can install the Chrome extensions above and use them.

Internet Explorer

To stop animations on a single page you can just press the 'Esc' key. This will stop the animation on that page. If you wish to restart the animations you need to refresh the page. To permanently disable the playing of animated GIF images, open Internet Options > Advanced tab. Under the Multimedia section, uncheck the Play animations in webpage check-box, click Apply and Exit and then restart your computer.

Firefox

Type about:config in Firefox address bar and hit Enter to open Settings. Search for the image.animation_mode flag and change its value from Normal to None. Once you restart Firefox this will disable animations.

We are delighted to announce our three lucky Reward Card winners, each winning a whopping £100 credit!

Our Sign Up and Win competition celebrated the launch of the Beckett Food & Retail Reward Card back in September and was open to everyone signing up before 30 October 2016.

Hayley Whitefoot

Hayley, who has worked in the Learning Systems Team at our University since 2013 was delighted to win £100 credit, so excited in fact she took her fellow colleagues out for a lunchtime treat at the City Campus Food Court.

When we asked Hayley what she'll be spending the rest of her credit she told us:

"I tend to go the Grumpy Mule for coffee and snacks, the staff are really friendly and it's a great place for bumping into library colleagues. I'll also visit the Rose Bowl Food Court for full meals, especially Fish Friday, that's not to be missed!".

Tony Cannon

Tony, a retired pharmacist, studies Italian at Leeds Beckett to continue his love of learning and to speak with locals whilst holidaying in Italy. Tony has also successfully learned Polish with Leeds Beckett and prior to that he learned German at Joseph Priestley College.

Tony uses his Reward Card at both the Headingley and City Campus when visiting our libraries, he was told about the scheme by our team at the Rose Bowl and is delighted they did. He is now looking forward to using his £100 credit for some free sandwiches and coffees during his visits.

Carolyn Ellis

Carolyn has just started studying Speech and Language Therapy at our University in September this year and told us the £100 credit will be great for grabbing a pick-me-up snack and coffee from the Grumpy Mule when studying. Carolyn picked up a Reward Card to take advantage of the treats and rewards, especially as she could use it over two campuses.

We hope all our winners enjoy their credit. If you didn't win this time, don't worry, we'll have plenty of opportunities to win big in the future.
