With many potential users online the web becomes a virtual front door to our collections. This allows us to pass on information about where we are, what we hold, how to gain access and other basic information.

We can also look at how these pages might develop, from a front door into a virtual reading room including features or exhibitions online. Some items I have been thinking about are streaming films of Carnegie in the 1930’s  with supporting text and images, an historic image bank perhaps with some form of user comments and explore the possibility of other  features being written by guest contributors.

This is an opportunity to think about our web presence having interactive elements rather than remaining a passive informational resource.
