Descendants... revisited
A few weeks ago I wrote about finding an early identifying stamp on one of the books that form part of the Leeds College of Art and Architecture Collection.
A direct link to the Leeds Mechanics Institute and Literary Society, which was formed in 1842 by the amalgamation of the Leeds Mechanics Institute and the Leeds Literary Institution. Recently I found an even earlier stamp from the Leeds Mechanics Institute Library which means that the book was part of that Library between 1824 and 1842. The book in question is a rare copy of The Four Books of Architecture by Andrea Palladio translated by Isaac Ware [1738].
