Special Collections Room

Over the last few weeks work has progressed in preparing the Special Collections Room, 106 at Civic Quarter Library. It is intended to house initially the newly acquired Cooperative Historical Collection, which includes runs of various cooperative journals some dating back to the 1870’s, and also the Leeds Art College Collection.

The Cooperative Collection has been deposited on loan by the National Co-operative Archive at the Co-operative College based in Manchester. The Leeds Art College Collection comprises of books, illustrations, pamphlets and archival material pertaining to and collected by the Leeds College of Art and to Leeds Polytechnic which the art college became part of in 1970.

Thanks are due to Judith Atteridge, Ritchie Curle, for their help in organising clearing the room and not least to James Fisher who has done the lions share of liaising with colleagues in CARES and Estates to facilitate the readying of the room.
