Carnegie Village is found on Headingley Campus which houses the food court, coffee shops and a convenience store for all your basics. 10-minutes’ walk away is Headingley which has a Sainsbury’s and a Wilkinsons for all your shopping needs.
Carnegie Village sits on the edge of the student utopia of Headingley, a hive of activity and starting point for the nationally renowned pub crawl, the Otley Run. It’s also located near to Carnegie Stadium, used by some of our courses but also home to Leeds Rhinos and Yorkshire County Cricket Club, perfect for sports nuts.
With no short supply of pubs and bars, Headingley has something for all tastes. Just a few of the choices available include the bubbly charms of Arc and Box, the match day haven of Skyrack to the traditional tipples served in Arcadia, Woodie’s Ale House and The Original Oak. For classier occasions there’s cocktail bar Trio and the London-esque appeal of White’s Deli or, if your stale cornflakes are getting you down then there’s always Moo’d, the specialist cereal café. Meat lovers can also look out for the Red’s True BBQ outpost, something that’s recently caused a bit of a storm in Leeds culinary circles.
Headingley’s full of classic comforts. Just a few minutes’ walk from campus is the beautiful old-style Cottage Road Cinema, showcasing today’s top films in a gorgeous, plush setting. You’ll also find some of the best fish and chips in Leeds at Bryan’s which is conveniently over the road from specialty off-licence, Beer Ritz which stocks an impressive selection of beers from around the UK (and the world).
Seasoned charity shoppers can bag a bargain at any one of the great charity shops dotted about Headingley. Particular highlights include the Oxfam book shop which stocks a library sized collection of knowledge and fiction and is the source of many a great find.
There is a fitness centre at Carnegie Sports Centre conveniently located a short stroll away on Headingley Campus. The centre boasts an excellent range of classes and facilities, including a swimming pool, squash and tennis courts - all accessible with your sports membership.
The University’s Wellbeing Team offers a free and confidential service to help manage any difficulties you may experience during your time at Leeds Beckett.
